Analog & Digital Mixing. ITB and OTB Hybrid.
Here are photos of the pro audio equipment used during the mixing sessions of HIJA and Dr. Crowley records. For both projects, we really strived to go analog as much as possible, utilizing Pro Tools as tape recorder and editor, as well as for automation. We relied on the artists/musicians and their gear for most of the tone shaping, avoiding unnecessary processing so we can preserve the "feel" and "feeling" of the performances. HIJA is a funk-ish soul band while Dr. Crowley is a blues-based rock n roll band.

Studio sessions. Trumpet and Harmonica recordings.
First post for 2009, here are some video clips of exciting happenings at teh recording studio that occurred in the last quarter of 2008. We spill the beans on gear and approach to the recording, equipment talk galore.
Trumpet Wah
Our first video features Wowee Anzanio, trumpet player of the band HIJA who's music falls on the soul genre with a strong sense of funk. We've been recording HIJA's debut CD since November 2008. We're optimistic that their record will get picked up by a major label.
Juke Blues Harp
Our second video features Ronnie Badilla, a master blues harp player laying down juke-ish harmonica licks for Dr. Crowley's "Swallow My Pride" song which is included in Dr. Crowley's upcoming debut CD to be released by Rebolusyon Rekords in March 2009.
Enjoy these recording studio session videos.

LA 2A (LA-2A) Limiter & PE 1C Pultec style EQ
We’d like to share our joy with these new analog equipment acquisitions. A 2nd PE 1C tube eq to make allow for stereo tube EQ applications and our first LA-2A, a reissue LA 2A tube compressor limiter to allow warm and classic sounding recordings on our Pro Tools HD based digital recording system. These will be our last few equipment purchases this year until the economy changes for the better, read gas prices plunge and recording budgets increase. (dream on)…

Foley sounds: Fireworks and firecracker explosions in the Philippines
Free foley sounds of fireworks and firecracker explosions in Makati, Philippines. I received the M-Audio microtrack II just in time for the New Year festivities, thus here are sounds of the fireworks and firecrackers exploding all over Makati, Philippines during the last hour of 2007 and the first minutes of 2008. These sounds may hint at a warzone like Iraq or Sulu but NO, it's from a country of people fond of celebrating the New Year with a BIG BANG! Check them out.

Live Remote Recording with MacbookPro Digi 003 Rack
I received my brand spanking new MacBook Pro just a day before the Blueskrieg Blues Night special at 19East - this is a special concert production for us coz of Binky and Lampano Alley in the artist lineup - I've always intended to record and video the gig since getting the date confirmed 10 days ago.
Anyway, I trust Mac's with ProTools so much that I went ahead with the live remote recording intent despite limited runtime with the Macbook Pro (a 2.4 Dual Core with 4Gigs of RAM). I recorded 8 tracks from the Midas Legend 3000 board's direct out...
Inside, hear the mixed audio tracks
